The perfect family, the pillars of the church... hiding lives shattered by abuse. This is the story of two of their children, struggling to be free from the oppression of their fanatical father... and the twists and turns the road to freedom takes them on.
I LOVED this book... The characters came alive to me, and I identified so deeply with Kambili's shy and fearful self, locked so deeply inside herself that she wonders if self-expression will ever be possible for her. I give it a 5 out of 5 rating.
